Re: trackstar's Needle Exchange

Yes and In fact I am working on fabric groupings for a DSOTM quilt - each triangle and prism effect will be different. Background might be black, shades of deep gray or dark/midnight blue from block to block.

Re: trackstar's Needle Exchange

I like both of those but especially the pin wheel. Indeed I do own a log cabin and it’s over 100 years old now! So it has that tipsy charm... As for drinking, two glasses of wine with dinner occasionally is enough. However if you rolled the plumpest joint ever seen on this forum, well then... let’s ...

Re: trackstar's Needle Exchange

Thinking more about various types of crazy quilts, I have started making blocks with a wide variety of patterns, but in colors that harmonize well together. Some may become small stand-alone pieces and some might take on more convoluted forms sewn together, but with the harmonies in the colors, it w...

Re: Need Help: Vegetarian Recipes

That lasagna looks great.  I am making ratatouille this evening - the eggplant in particular is perfect. Also, I think I have posted this book before, but inspired by the peach cheesecake I saw on another thread, this book is good on its own, or as adapted to vegan requirements. America's Test Kitch...

Re: trackstar's Needle Exchange

One more thought on fabric and design - Linton Tweeds, also in the UK, has some wonderful patterns.

If one were creating strange quilted forms, some of these would be perfect.

Just one example here.

Enjoy the fall. : )

Re: trackstar's Needle Exchange

And a little bonus: distinguishing topology from topography in quilting: Here is a Klein quartic quilt, which contains 24 seven-sided polygons, with three meeting at each vertex. Featured in this article: Knitting is coding in this physics lab - Today May 24 2019 When I am in the UK this fall, I wil...

Re: trackstar's Needle Exchange

Nice! Can you make a topologically crazy one? For the record, I'm not so young and strictly against hunting! Thank you! On age, maybe so; however, you are certainly young enough to be my much younger sister, and maybe even my daughter. : ) Topography is very interesting in fabrics and quilt design,...

Re: trackstar's Needle Exchange

Well, as you may know, there is no rest for the wicked! : D So, while *some* young ladies out there have been hunting for black, white, or even *pink* swans (and no, those are not flamingos!), I made a small quilt today. Lately I have been creating fabric "puzzles" with constraints:   I buy quantiti...

Re: norway

Seriously, come here if you thrive some solo trips. Friendly a safe city. I was gently poked and asked out a couple of times, but no problems sorting this out. They respect your personal space, but aren't hostile at the same time. Time to swan sway? (just had half a pint!) back home... Thanks for k...

Hello G3 - nice to see you. Yes, things have changed since you were last here. Also AWOL - outrun, pauper, and daveangel (until recently - he showed up briefly a few weeks ago), among others. Farmer reported that he had built a hog hunting robot and provided a video here : https://forum.wilmott.com/...

Re: UK and the EU: In or out?

It works for the French because they are lazy. Brits aren’t good with leisure time, we’d turn to drink and fighting. It's cool. I'm lazy too. Laziness drives invention. I know a few very intelligent but lazy men - they married women who know how to hustle one way or another. This is a different spi...

My sister saw a bob cat in her yard recently, but by the time she got her camera, it was gone. https://www.massaudubon.org/var/ezdemo_site/storage/images/media/ma-assets/images/bobcat-rachel-bellenoit/261320-1-eng-US/bobcat-rachel-bellenoit_large_portrait.jpg We are going north to the Highlands Game...
