They are both considered among the top Catholic colleges in the US (usually along with Georgetown and BC). Out of the four, Notre Dame is the outlier, as being considered much more of a football school than a basketball school. And, yes, they all hand out a full range of athletic scholarships.

Re: You are rich, privately educated and intelligent. So why do you vote Socialist?

Receiving an athletic scholarship of course sounds a lot nicer than “my family was determined to be too poor to afford Princeton, so I got a discount on the tuition”, which is in effect what happened.

Re: Food for Thought

Ah, this is obviously some strange use of the word fast that I wasn’t previously aware of.

Re: You are rich, privately educated and intelligent. So why do you vote Socialist?

Most of the article was hidden behind a paywall, but the author is totally misguided on one important point: Princeton will under no circumstances give out a “sports scholarship”, so that is not what she got. They certainly recruit athletes and definitely hand out needs based scholarships, but linki...

I think Einstein pipped you at the post

The author seems not to be aware of Bachelier. But it is inconvenient that the mathematical object of Brownian motion was first developed in the context of option pricing.

Re: PWOQF, expected hitting time

From BS to heat Pde https://www.math.tamu.edu/~stecher/425/Sp12/blackScholesHeatEquation.pdf on the 2nd line stating upfront that [$]V(0,t) = 0[$] is so wrong. What have we here, laddie? Mysterious scribblings? A secret code? Three pages later we encounter an answer that is off by an odd factor of ...

Re: I'm a Punkrocker Yes I Am

Did any prisoners escape from prison after the performance? Apparently about a dozen did escape from the mental hospital.  "You know I love you, But you've got a hell of a lot to learn about Rock 'n' Roll!" Looked it up and no, not after that concert, which was 1968. Folsom State Prison -...

Re: Random Republican WINGNUTS (or RRWs as they are affectionately known as)

That’s fair. At least sort of. I did add the parenthetical comment, but absolutely believe that a majority of the respondents would include keeping slaves as part of “the traditional American way of life” that they would like to kill for (not, mind you, die for). Like it was written into the constit...

Re: Random Republican WINGNUTS (or RRWs as they are affectionately known as)

In a recent poll by the American Enterprise Institute (a right wing think tank), 56% of Republicans supported the use of violence to protect the traditional (white) American way of life.

The main thing is have you understood where the integral comes from and how that integration by parts was achieved?
Yes. Yes, I do.
I think the proper line is “Thank you sir! May I have another?”

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

So, with a special grand jury convened by the Manhattan DA, the likelihood of a criminal indictment of the miscreant is ramping up. These things still take an awful long time though. He might well die a more or less natural death before being done with the appeals of his judgment.

Re: Random Republican WINGNUTS (or RRWs as they are affectionately known as)

Bleading head republicans, in an effort to kill each other (which I applaud and support) are increasingly banning the use, let alone requirement for any purpose, of covid vaccine documentation. This of course is going to have the side effect of killing local normal people, as well as keeping many of...
