Re: New 2nd Edition - The Complete Guide to Option Pricing Formulas + CD-ROM by Espen Gaarder Haug

Every point in time and space is subject to a cone of arrows of propagating information converging at that point in time and space. Every point in time and space is emits a cone of arrows of propagating information diverging from  that point in time and space. Does this thing have a name you are ta...

Re: How many holes does a straw have?

Is it? I thought two spaces are topologically equivalent if one can be deformed into the other without ripping / cutting the surface. I thought Topology was something that only existed in topologists' minds. What a pleasant, if not somewhat worrying surprise. I only have homeomorphic dreams. So you...

Re: How Can We Buy 51% Of This Target?

Is there any chance of getting the company to raise another round of funding (with voting rights), buying >50% of that round and then buying the government stake?

Re: How many holes does a straw have?

A straw is topologically equivalent to a donut. A donut has one hole. Therefore the straw has one hole. Is it? I thought two spaces are topologically equivalent if one can be deformed into the other without ripping / cutting the surface. Yes, that's the right definition. Now take a donut ring of do...

Indeed, time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana yes  but closer analysis to  me  indicates the arrow vibrates while moving, and yes  one can shoot fruit flies with small rapid arrows to save your banana! but yes the arrow of time,  means one should look at time-derivative different than...

Re: Cheap way to transfer money?

reviving this thread. so, my friend wishes to transfer each month her/his salary in CHF to some country of the Eurozone. what are the cheapest options in 2018?  (must be safe...) transferwise (that i already mentioned back in 2014) remains the best option according to what i've found. total cost ro...

Re: what did the painter do wrong?

Definitely vegan in that case. I'm always cold - except in the middle of the summer in Italy when temperatures go above 30C. My hands and feet are still cold though. Anyway, doesn't one also need some sugar for the lemonade? Or is this another (sugar) tax avoidance scheme? That sounds like Raynaud'...

Which leads T4As to the proof that it's a Cauchy sequence :-) https://i.pinimg.com/564x/38/4c/88/384c889559d3ab3680d020d068994f19.jpg and when fate hands you demons, make a Demonade. Re: Stupid question of the day

Do you think math finance would make more sense if it wasn't developed mostly by physicists-long-past-sell-by-date? (It only sounds passive-aggressive.) It would be best if most physicists stay out of it entirely because they don't understand complex adaptive systems.  No electrons ever looked for ...

Re: Stupid question of the day

For the most part, biologists (especially ecologists) understand these things much better. I read this in a book somewhere recently. Where was it? Oh, yes, "The Money Formula" by that handsome, clever bloke, and Paul Wilmott.  Indeed! Any resemblance between the paths of inanimate parti...

Why is it that CME quotes 3 types of milk futures but only one cheese future? Is Roquefort fungible with Manchego? eccentric milk billionaire  uus--6heuw8 If they did it would introduce cheese spread products, and lot of people at key positions have very strong opinions about cheese spread. Re: Does Cauchy sequence ever occur in the real world or is it all the minds of mathematicians?

A harmonic oscillator? I'm not sure why you think the Cauchy convergence is not present in physical system - I gave you several examples, and if you read some more on mathematical physics, you'll see see that it's ubiquitous. But a harmonic oscillator never actually converges below some threshold e...
