I stayed in Chicago last week, the street name was Wilmot

Last time I was in Chicago, I couldn't find a place to go in the evening. The loop was totally deserted by 6:00 pm if not earlier, and I tried a number of places nearby, but they were all seedy. Where do people go in the evening, where things are lively but not seedy in Chicago?
