Will Argentina win the 2010 Football World Cup?

I dunno; the dutch on average I think are wiser/older. The germans routed Australia (deservedly), to lose to the serbians, who were beat by the aussies ?!?

A short test on the code efficiency of CUDA and thrust

<t>dan, I just finished a port of a legacy C++ codebase to CUDA, 5k+ lines -> 2k linesthere was 10 years/ 10k man hours in the migration code, our port was ~ 500 man hours over the course of 6 months for a performance gain of 5x using a tesla c1060 versus 8 nehalem threads + SSE instructionsI've spu...

The Best Beer on Earth

<t>amen brother, although I have to disagree re the puritan remark, there has always been strong beer subculture amongst calviniststhis fourth of july we're having victory from philly, resurrection (baltimore?), southern tier and ommegang (NY) and founders (grand rapids) for a little soiree, safe mo...

octave is terrific, it is relatively easy to do performance hacks and accelerate code with CUDA/linked octfiles, I give a little detail at my blog

A short test on the code efficiency of CUDA and thrust

<t>CUDA itself isn't hard, it's just C with extensions, and there are plenty of examples in the SDk to use, as well as C++ header libraries like thrust. What will always be difficult is porting serial code to parallel/GPU. Memory management is critical; a good example of what you refer to is coalesce...

Sparse matrix with different boundary conditions

so you would solve A.x = b and then reset some of the x? is this physical? sorry I don't know much about PIC, my colleague does the EM around hereI recommend octave, the free version of matlab, it has much of the same functionality including a nice little selection of sparse routines eg., spy

Sparse matrix with different boundary conditions

<t> if you could post a pic of your matrix using spy, that might help?but basically, speaking from the reservoir experience, I have a list of nodes from a very large cartesian grid which are also of the 7 point stencil type. Throughout the calculation, at least once, nodes are trimmed and connection...

Sparse matrix with different boundary conditions

I was suggesting a simple decomposition like (ELL+COO) * v, where COO is changing and ELL is constant. Is this a moving boundary problem?

Sparse matrix with different boundary conditions

<t>you could try a hybrid format eg., ELL/COO, I'm doing this with reservoir simulation code. Check out bell/garland's paper even if you're not doing this in GPU, they discuss optimal kernels/formats, or anything written by Schenk. He wrote pardiso and imho is a leading sparse guy, as well as a genu...
