Associations - both within industry and academic

If you're in the NYC area, IAFE is fantastic. They hold fairly regular meetings. The Columbia and NYU FE seminars also give good talks.

CFA for Trading???

Re application

That this question is even being asked is disturbing. A clear, unambiguous question was asked by the bank. Then, an online forum is being asked whether it's OK to lie.

Is this a good step towards becoming a quant?

<t>It's unrealistic for you to know exactly what you want at this stage in your life (or any, for that matter). It's also unrealistic for you to hedge everything, IMO.FWIW, the best hedge against future states of the economy, changing interests, etc. is to do what you are passionate about, and be ab...

BTW, the best resource for understanding what life as a PhD student in science/engineering (at least in the US) is like is www.phdcomics.com. Everything there is *absolutely* true.

Don't forget the rail getting delayed for rain/snow/wind and the oh so dear "signal failure"...Just get into the office early -- catch the last night bus. They're quiet and fast and cheaper. Or even cheaper, ride a bike. Tower Bridge to Mayfair is 20 minutes pre-rush hour.

Immediately south of Tower Bridge (Bermondsey) -- puts you near the Jubilee Line which is a straight shot to Canary Wharf. You'll pay about 1600-1700 GBP/mo for a small 2BR if you get one block away from the fancier warehouse conversions near the river.
