<t>Quite tough to place a limit based on time, something like "before / after" 1900, since there are composers categorized as "classical" and "modern" afterwards, especially on the Russian side. Also, some nations like the US have only begun existing on this scene from that time onwards (US) while o...

<t>none... Had begun admin stuff for CMU, then began in London and finally came back to France (I can't see a better cost / length / amount learnt / degree of sophistication ratio... except that French teachers tend to be VERY theoretical and completely bypass stuff like practical implementation / m...

<r>Regarding Gould's recordingS, Sony made an interesting release last year: a disc with both the 1955 and the 1981 versions... Just amazing to see how both recordings, the most famous of Gould (1982 is OK, no more), are different; 1955 lasts 38'33 in total, and 1981 lasts 51'18 (related article at ...

<r>William Christie once said: "There is God, and right below there is Bach". Couldn't agree more, even though Handel is ranking high as well (plus Offenbach and Puccini on the opera side). For baroque music lovers, I highly recommend <URL url="http://www.alpha-prod.com/">http://www.alpha-prod.com/</...

<t>Was admitted to it for last fall, didn't go as it looked a bit "old fashioned": heavy on hardcore math, not much applied stuff, and very little programming and the like... Even though Global Derivatives no longer have a formal ranking, I am under the impression that it is one of the programmes th...

quant opportunities in Paris

I do not know if you have had the opportunity to see some Paris-based HH recently but the opportunities appear quite limited on the pure quant side, from my point of view, especially as to £££... Anyway, there are so many frogs on quant desks in London that you'll probably feel like at home

<t>no real way to actually prepare for that, as pretty much everything can be covered during the interview, with a strong practical bias. From the background noise, the guy was on his desk in front of his screens and would simply ask questions based on what he would be thinking about at that very mo...
