What does ?convergence? in Monte Carlo simulation mean?

To go back to the OP, converging too quickly and too neatly is something that might bother me enough to check that I hadn't missed something.Of course "too quickly" is a judgement term, not a numerical value.

<r>Yes, this is a hard one.First of all you need to wrap this in positivity. Work through what you know and when talking to them emphasize the manager that you really want to and use phrases like "looking forward to working with Smith".Assholes are ummm, errrr, like assholes, all firms have some and...

Options: Is this an accurate description?

<t>I agree that "Share" is definitely not the right word. The first word that comes to me (as an English speaker) is "reallocate", or perhaps a better word is "redistribute".Each now has a different risk profile, but to me the word "share" implies that they are both benefit or lose in the same way, w...

Best undergraduate degrees for quants

<t>I think this is the wrong question...The right question is what do you enjoy that you are better at than other people ?Starting salaries in the Netherlands are simply irrelevant to quant work as there are relatively few quants there and on top of that Quanting is moving hard to be at least a mast...

Starting compensation for a developer

<t>Occasionally a new grad developer will have some utlra-specialist skill, or rather 2 skills.Sometimes a firm will pay "what it takes" to get something done, but to get money in the tail of the distribution requires that you can find each other and that you have the negotating skills to get it.But...

<t>Yes, Why do people join Google ?Partly of course it's branding and unless like me you're in recruitment, the relative strength of employment brands is unintuitive. For instance when on the phone I mention UBS to an American PhD in science or tech they quite often think I'm talking about a delivery...

Technical details on CV when applying for quant dev positions

<t>I suspect the idea of "precision" may be a distorted echo of what I tell people. You need to be precise to the extent that any word you put on your CV is a potential interview question, so you must take care only to include things about which you can answer questions. If they care about which versi...

<t>Certainly the Sunday Times made it look as through Paul was a LD supporter who'd been caught breaking the law.You don't need 50K to Government in the UK, though obviously it does mean you get to go to fundraisers and get to say to politicians "bankers bonuses are a good thing".If you genuinely th...

<t>Full disclosure, I give money to the Conservative Party and the first time I went to the House of Commons to meet the gang, was physically assaulted by Vince Cable (#2 to the man who may or may not be in the picture with someone who may or may not be Paul)The sums I've read about are patheitcally...

End of bitcoin?

Of course we could invert this graph and say that the value of paper currency has gone up relative to Bitcoin :)This raises the question of wealth transfer, who is now richer and who is now poorer as a result of the rate changes ?

Metamorphosis of the IB data scientist

I certainly see expansion into FO for data science, this will include some MO/BO people moving, but also new hires and FO people using it more.

What is a self-financing strategy?

I'm not sure "fraud"is quite the right word, it's an ideal, just like ideal gases.A common use of self-financing strategy is to discover or disprove arbitrage in an analysis, since the existence of an SFS is sufficient to prove there is arbitrage.

Patent on an Algorithm

Yes, an academic paper is not a licence to us the IP in it, though they are often used in patent disputes to demonstrate prior art.
