Re: UK and the EU: In or out?

May is probably a lovely person. But missing a crucial part of her brain. She is the problem, and the civil servants whom she let run this shambles. And the people have already decided. If there’s another referendum (depending on the choices) it could make things worse: Civil disobedience, riots, b...

Re: UK and the EU: In or out?

Paul: as a Brexiteer what is your view on the vote, and the vote of no confidence in May?  My 2 cents is that is all a shambles. The government will win the vote of no confidence, and then we are back to square one and will have wasted 2 years + millions in trying to get something through that is cl...

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

What I don't understand is that the illegal boarder crossings are less now than they have been for a number of years, most illegals come through airports. Drugs are traffiked through tunnels and impromptu landing strips.

So why is a Wall needed?

Re: "Unified Revolution" new book by Espen Haug

Joing two posts: I always thought that the symbol was called nabla and the various vector calculus products were dependent on what you did with it e.g. div, grad or curl. My Electromag lecturer called it nabla. However also my electromag teacher used m and n as a subscript. He had a serif writing an...

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

I don't want to give Trump any more credit than he deserves. However he was elected in democratically and he always said that he was going to build a wall.  True. But equally true is the fact that the House Democrats were elected as at least as legally as Trump, and they (AFAIK) clearly said they d...

Also I am still wondering about the imaginary numbers in the standard wave function (that I borrowed from standard QM), is it somehow also linked to the Old Mystical formula? When  I was a yoof I used  Eisberg and Resnik  I wished I hadn't sold it to go on holiday looking at the Hardcover price tod...

Hmmm. Something is fishy here.  If a particle is travelling at c , then isn't the Compton wavelength the same as the de Broglie relation? Feynman was lecturing freshman. There are various ways in which you can derive Schrodinger Equation. Positrons being electron moving back in time is purely a hand...

and we had the incoming House Armed Services Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Smith, D-Washington, say that "unfortunately" the president does have the authority to call a national emergency over border security “Unfortunately, the short answer is yes. There is a provision in law that says th...

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

I suspect that the WaPo was referring to the shear volume of illegals when they said that there is "a bona fide emergency." at the border. I thought the rates of immigration from MX were lower - around the same as 2000. Also there are less male refugees, now many of them are women and chi...

FYI I sometimes live in London, sometimes in the countryside and sometimes in the US...it gives me a broader perspective than one gets within the Circle Line!

Was “Passport to Pimlico” on the TV over Xmas?!
Likewise. I Bunbury at weekends. I still voted stay though!

Re: UK going to the dogs

Mayor Khan slammed for turning London’s New Year fireworks show into an EU tribute That is so so so funny. Nothing like sticking two fingers up to Nigel Farage when there is nothing he can do. Most people (apart from Paul W) in London wanted to stay. It won't be long before the UK is cast off as us...

Alan Dershowitz: Well, it’s remarkable how little history people know and how little they are willing to learn about something as tragic as that. And the result is these false analogies all over the place. Everybody is compared to Hitler. Everybody is compared to the Holocaust… Anybody who compares...

Believe it or not, Churchill got a Nobel prize in Literature.  The Nobel Prize in Literature 1953 was awarded to Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill "for his mastery of historical and biographical description as well as for brilliant oratory in defending exalted human values."  Meshugga...
