Flash on Chrome

February 28th, 2018, 2:48 am

Is it just me, or is it now actually impossible to run Adobe Flash in a Chrome browser? Based on postings to the Chrome help forum, it is supposed to be possible, although deliberately difficult, but in my case following the suggested hoop-jumping steps does not produce anything useful. For whatever it is worth, I'm running a current version of Chrome on a macOS Sierra 10.12.6. Anybody else having experienced this?

Take this random webpage with a flash video. Here, I can watch it using Chrome, Adobe Flash being installed, and chrome://settings/content/flash allowing this webpage to play the video.

- Windows 7
- Chrome build 64.0.3282.167 (64 bits)
- Flash Chrome build 28.0.0.161

Thanks. Same problem on that page. I get to the stage of hitting Ctrl-Click to play the video and then nothing happens Then, after a second or so, nothing continues to happen. It may be a Mac thing.

Google has disabled flash from Chrome 56 on by default. There is an opt in option but many sites seem to be using the feature detection incorrectly.

For https://www.platts.com/videos/2018/febr ... jim-rogers it shows the get flash button and when I click it asks if I want to allow Flash on the page then it loads.

- MacOS 10.12.6
- Chrome build 64.0.3282.167 (64 bits)
- Flash Chrome build 28.0.0.161

Do you maybe have an Chrome extension that's conflicting with Chrome's own click to enable implementation?

Thanks, Hansi. The problem appears to have fixed itself a minute ago with the update to Chrome version 65.0.3325.106 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)
I have it set to autoupdate, which seems to aggressively grab (very) new versions. But I'm happy now.
