"A Shot To Save the World" by Gregory Zuckerman

December 12th, 2021, 1:41 pm

This is a semi-technical account of the science and business history that led to the covid vaccines -- at least the mRNA-based ones. I am about halfway through it and can highly recommend it.  Especially interesting so far: (i) the story of Katalin Kariko; (ii) the Moderna business pivot from using mRNA to make general proteins, which apparently didn't work, to vaccines. Finance people may remember Zuckerman as the author of "The Man Who Solved the Market" about Jim Simons.
