Quotei am now exploring LightningSource...it seems the author can keep up to 65%, and they dont deduct 30% US withholding tax (what CS will do).We are with LS; if you fill the forms, this will not be deducted. And you distribute yourself as well (it is your book after all) and execute normal business negotiations.

You can keep 80% minus the cost of printing, so for an average book would come out to 75% or so

Lulu seem to have discount codes almost all the time now. I'll be posting them on my facebook fan page. The current one is TREASUREUK for 20% off.

Has anyone had problems with the binding? One colleague who bought a lulu copy when it first came out is having issues : pages are falling out.

Never tried Lulu. But my proofs from Createspace have problems with the cover-- it curls and lamination peels. Thus, i switched to Lightning Source (LSI) a month ago and opted for hard cover. The book now looks very nice. LSI says it will be listed in Amazon in 2-3 weeks time. Anyone knows how to get it listed in ALL the various international Amazon site?-------------------------------check it out at: www.bubble-value-at-risk.com

It seem that you need 45% humidity in the production hall when doing a 'run' and pressing and so on. With a run of 1 it may not be visible but larger runs (e.g. 50) takes longer and a continuous humidity level is advantageous. If the book dries out it starts curling. It is an issue to be aware of.LS takes care of all Amazon sites for you (as publisher).

I've written a book about sports arbitrage which I self published on Lulu 3 years ago. Its done very well and the printing is always top notch. Amazon has picked up the book too from Lulu and the whole experience has been simple, easy and a joy to use. I'd recommend anyone have a go. I've also done a photo book on Blurb and Lulu and think the photo reproduction on Blurb is better.
