Vomitoxins occur naturally on wheat, durum wheat, rye, oats, corn (...) from flowering to maturity. It is favored by cold and wet weather.
From a physical trading perspective, grains with high vomitoxin are likely to be rejected (yet) by the grain elevator and/or its price discounted. The majority of world buyers have 2 ppm maximum. ( 1 ppm in the UK, 0.5 ppm in Norway). Vomitoxins content is closely watch in both the human food sector (industrial food industry) and animal feed (e.g pigs can’t stand it) and it is monitored by grain sampling/analysis (mostly early) in the supply-chain.
