I had never heard of Alan Shatter before my trip to Shannon, even though I had a vague memory of an Irish minister who prayed at the Western Wall. It seems that the Irish have a lot of opinions about him, but none are related to his faith.

I had never heard of Alan Shatter before my trip to Shannon, even though I had a vague memory of an Irish minister who prayed at the Western Wall. It seems that the Irish have a lot of opinions about him, but none are related to his faith. 

Did it come as a surprise that you did not know about him? He was one of Mary Robinson's students in TCD.
To recall, it is the Israeli apartheid system that Irish people are against. Most people don't even know (or care) that he is Jewish. He blended in, despite his political views.

Shannon?? middle of nowhere. Last time for me was when 737 was the way to travel.

TCD has a history of inviting speakers; In 1974 the British ultra right 1920 committee was invited. Yours truly + judo buddies  had to defend the speakers from left-wing agent provocateurs (pardon my French). We defended them to the hilt (The 1920 lot, not the agents..). A riot ensured and the 18th century doors of the Dining Hall were taken off their hinges. A great night to remember.

Irish politicians had no right to lecture Israel about how it went about protecting its citizens from rockets that were being fired by Hamas from sites that included schools, hospitals and homes, he said.
“Hamas, as should be clear to every person by now who lives on this island, is nothing more than a fundamentalist Islamic death cult dedicated to murdering Jews.”

Alan Shatter was elected to the Dublin City Council as a Fine Gael candidate in 1979, at age twenty-eight. At the time, he was the only member of Ireland’s Jewish community, then numbering about twenty-one hundred, to have sought electoral office as a candidate for the party, which had long been shunned by many Irish Jews. In the 1930s Fine Gael had been briefly led by the pro-fascist General Eoin O’Duffy. It was later joined by Oliver Flanagan, who in 1943 had asserted that Ireland needed to rout Jews out of the country just as Germany had done.

Alan Shatter is the Alfred Dreyfus of the 21 Century. 
His story must be brought to light so that the whole world can see and learn. There is a virulent antisemitism that spreads lies in the name of ignorance and hatred, but as always, in the end, the truth is revealed and justice triumphs.

The dark underbelly to some of the false allegations that were made against Shatter as well of his most trenchant Dáil critics (particularly of Sinn Féin) are the ones who also prominent critics of Israel and frequently resort to antisemitic depictions. All was revealed and published by David Collier’s “Report on Antisemitism in Ireland”

marsden, I'll assume that you are asking this seriously (against my better judgement). I'll also pretend that you didn't imply whether it's worth having Israel as a state. 

It was not worth for Hamas to do what they did. Like it wasn't worth for Hizballah to attack Israel in 2006 and see the devastation of Beirut, which hurt their target Shia muslim audience mostly. Nasrallah did admit it during his interview directly which could be found easily. 

And no normal person would enjoy to see the current devastation and suffering and death of civilians in Gaza.  Moreover, in my view it's not worth for Israel to have settlements in West Bank at all! 

But teaching barbarians from terror groups (who stupidly relied on your and cuch "public" opinion for protection)  a lesson certainly worth it! 

Syrian regime recently killed around 1 million of Sunni muslims and displaced around 7 million. The number of dead from both sides in Israeli/Arab conflict (since 1940's is less than 100K)). 

Can you point me, where you (marsden) or cuch expressed your outrage about Syrian regime? If yes, what is the relative frequency of your complaints about that compared to what's happening between Israelis and Palestinians?
