Great! Windows that run Windows. Will the blue screen of death keep out mosquitos? Will I be unable to leave the house because the front door is installing an update?

Absolutely, first accept the EULA and then wait 40 minutes!

Btw,.. check out this breaking news... after Google Art Project make billion pixel resolution scans of 35.000 of artworks, Microsoft updates art search to include 4k images!

What do you think of the $40bln stock buyback? Sounds like a worse investment than buying Nokia stock!

I've always thought that stock buybacks (and dividends) to be an admission by the company that they can't think of anything good to invest in. It's a sign that the company is stuck in a mature (or declining) industry and lacks the vision (or risk tolerance) to try something new.

That said, giving the cash back to the shareholders (a buyback is a 100% repayment to X% of shareholders and a dividend is an X% repayment to 100% of shareholders) is probably better that blowing the money an acquiring other dying companies (e.g. Nokia).

After Google, Facebook, IBM, and the pancake restaurant downstairs, Microsoft is now also going to do AI, plans to do  cool stuff also, "big visions" etc etc
