compare and contrast the first trump inaugural,
“We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world, but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of other nations to put their own interests first. We do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example. We will shine for everyone to follow.”

fake news
US President Donald Trump's assertion that he had heard Ireland was going to cut its already low corporate tax rate is "fake news", Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said.
Mr Trump raised a few eyebrows on Monday when he told reporters at the White House: "I hear that Ireland is going to be reducing their corporate rates down to 8% from 12%."
"I can confirm that President Trump's claim that we are proposing to reduce our corporation profit tax to 8% is indeed fake news. There is no such plan to do so," Mr Varadkar told the Dáil in answer to a question from Solidarity PBP TD on Mr Trump's comments.
The 12.5% corporate tax rate has long made Ireland a hub for investment from major US multinationals like Google and Facebook and a target for criticism from US politicians.
The Government has responded by consistently stressing that the corporate tax rate will neither go up or down and the rate was reaffirmed just last week in Budget 2018.

Yes, I have decided that Trump is like bitcoin. We know it's going to crash and burn -- we just don't know when.

His re-election -- what a depressing thought. So, this thread has likely run its course and needs a successor. Perhaps "Trump and the Dunning-Kruger effect", a connection noticed by many. Or, if anybody has an interest, feel free to start it yourself.

Donald Trump is just an US president, you didn't vote for. You know how people call a politycial system, where your candidate may loose? Democracy.
In that sense US are democratic - just because someone like Trump may win: against both democrats and republicans.
Most European countries aren't democratic, in Germany the only choice is between Merkel and Schulz  :( They are not much different.

wiki
In the field of psychology, the Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias wherein people of low ability suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their cognitive ability as greater than it is. The cognitive bias of illusory superiority derives from the metacognitive inability of low-ability persons to recognize their own ineptitude.

indeed, that's part and parcel of why president trump became president trump.
He ran against a flawed candidate who (as you suggest) suffered from illusory superiority
