Haha.  No, not at all.  I mean in terms off wasting time needlessly, when there is so much serious work to do.

If I go to the mountains, I will hike for a bit and then can really focus and get lots of work done.

If I hang around here, I will not get any fresh air and exercise and similarly, I will not get any work done. :D

You are far from dangerous.  At least, you pose no danger to me.

If you should take up chemistry and start building fireworks in your apartment, for example, there is no telling...

I had a housemate who did that once.  Blew off his eyebrows and burned all his hair.

Sodium nitrate is pretty when it is on fire though.  :D

*Serotonin* and endorphins, actually, with hiking.
That's the magic combination...

I was wondering about oxitocin, but didn't dare to ask.

it looks like Bretton Woods where a British socialist (keynes) and a soviet agent in the US government (harry dexter white) established the post-WW2 monetary order
The gold exchange standard for USD (foreign governments could exchange USD for gold but US citizens couldn't) and other currencies pegged to USD (with frequent devaluations).

Not in the hiking chemistry set, but reduction of cortisol is and I would recommend that for everyone. : )

A little closer to Heaven and only a few hours to the north.

hotel in the mountains.jpg

TTFN. : )
And what is meant by "closer to Heaven"? A footnote.  ;)

Mount Washington, found in the White Mountains, Presidential Range, New Hampshire, is called Agiocochook by some Native American tribes, is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288.2 ft and the most topographically prominent mountain east of the Mississippi River (Prominence: 6,148′). The mountain is notorious for its erratic weather.

So, if you are at the top of Mount Washington, and you believe that Heaven is situated "up there in the sky" somewhere, then...

Also famous for the Mount Washington Observatory
Great job if you can handle the solitude and extreme weather.

And finally, here is the weekend reading.

Perfect!

Speaking of mountains and adrenaline junkies, this is my favourite route in Polish Tatra mountains:
Now it's probably more crowded as they installed more steps and chains, but in the past is was a serene (but exhausting) walk with stunning views. Almost every time I walked it at least two persons fell to death. In the winter it's easier, but more risky. Still, it's a piece of cake compared to Chinese mountains. (I like hiking, but not climbing - since every boring narrow-minded and big-headed person I've met in my life climbed, there must be something more to this association :-))

Hmm - I just learnt some geography. I had associated the Tatra mountains with Slovakia, probably because of the name association with Vysoke Tatra. Early childhood memories of watching the 1970 Nordic Skiing world championship on TV from there...

Seasonal Series 1

October Hydrangea

In early summer, this hydrangea was bright blue, then it turned deep pink, and now it is preparing for winter.

Cold nights here now.  Firewood stacking time too.

The Tatra Mountains, Tatras or Tatra, is a mountain range that forms a natural border between Slovakia and Poland. This is the highest mountain range in the Carpathian Mountains.
