A bit like BREXIT but never use the name again, like some people have to say 020 instead of Amsterdam.

google tells me that's the area code

Great rivalry between Rotterdam and Amsterdam (a bit silly IMO). Some of the former have great difficult in using the A word, so 020.

It's a bit like Yankees v Red Sox.

I think Paul would have written it in lower case in that case. I think he means something else. BTW there are many suns in many galaxies.

I can tell you this much; next time we go to NYC we will _not_ be staying in the Trump Soho, although the staff were just lovely and friendly to us.

LOL, just did a Wiki, speak of the devil

Because of Trump's successful campaign in the 2016 presidential election, in which Trump ran as a Republican, Trump's properties in predominantly Democratic areas such as New York City saw a decline in business.[28] In May 2017, WNYC reported that business at the Trump SoHo had fallen off, and that the hotel had plans to lay off some staff. The report speculated that the Trump name may be the cause of the downturn, although it pointed out that other Trump properties, such as the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. and the resort-hotel in Mar-a-Lago, had not experienced business reverses, and were in fact doing very well.[29] Other Trump properties, such as Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles and Trump Ferry Point in the Bronx, had shown a marked decrease in business.[30] In November 2017, the Trump Organization reported that it was no longer going to be affiliated with the Trump SoHo by the end of the year.[11] The building was renamed The Dominick on December 21, 2017.[4]

Looks a bit bare without the sign.

It’s always the workers who are most affected by the leftist boycotts.

It is hardly surprising that Mar-a-Lago and the Trump International Hotel in DC are doing well, since they are the primary venues to obtain access and curry favors with Trump by giving him money (there are less polite words for this).

Leftist boycotts tend to be short-lived fads.

I think they just took their service somewhere else. Not really a boycott as such. That's the NY way.

It's when the peasants who are revolting, then watch out. It's always the working-class that hold out.

The cost to the government of harvesting Boycott's crops was estimated at £10,000: in Parnell's words, "...one shilling for every turnip dug from Boycott's land." In a letter requesting compensation to William Ewart Gladstone, then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boycott said that he had lost £6,000 of his investment in the estate. Boycotting had strengthened the power of the peasants,[26] and by the end of 1880 there were reports of boycotting from all over Ireland. The events at Lough Mask had also increased the power of the Land League, and the popularity of Parnell as a leader.

I'm pretty sure it was the same in Soweto in 1976 and the era of the Raj. Gandhi advocated "buy Indian goods first".
