With a vegan daughter coming home for the college break, just missing the solstice, I will study this carefully!

Be careful will all the lentils! This recipe book (kindly recommended by Professor Collector) has great selection of light raw recipes. My favourite is mango noodles (p.31).

Vegan Wellington (can also serve as a pillow for an attention hungry carnivore) :-)

I've always been critical of supplementation of a vegan diet, but recently I had a series of blood tests and the doctor convinced me to that. I have a low B12 level and the doctor convinced me that I have symptoms of the deficiency. I even agreed to take a series of B12 shots :-( You might want to suggest to your daughter to have a blood test done. We might be on a super-healthy diet, but since we are too morally superior to eat dead animals' rotting flesh, we should either eat animal poo (with all the parasites living there - I don't recommend) or take supplements.

Excitotoxins are trending in my vegan discussion groups:
The author is a renown neurosurgeon, but his views on some food additives (that they are excitotoxins) are against the "scientific" consensus. Russel Blaylock

Honoring my Californian roots (where did you think the bear came from?) I just made a nice bowl of guacamole. It has enough other hardware (garlic, onion, pepper, tomato, cilantro, etc.) that it could be viewed as a cross-over into the pico de gallo category, although not really. But safely in the vegan space. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, vegan brothers and sisters! And the rest...

BTW, do you know Ukrainians are so crazy about the legendary healing properties of garlic that we hang its bulbs everywhere, put it under the table cloth, and - teh horror - eat one clove every day! And we don't stink garlic AT ALL! We smell lilac and gooseberries ;-D

I'm going raw vegan tonight (a sweet and sour dill salad). A bottle of champagne for cats is cooling in the wine fridge.

Ethical veganism is philosophical belief, tribunal rules

Yay! Now I can post as many cat photos as I like!

Very nice (I'd use half a lemon and a bit more garlic though):
