The latest works (and after reading about European economics and finance all day - it's finally tea time!)

Exhibit 1 - finished now - another super wash hand-painted merino wool knit on size 8 needles (US).

Picture is a little too contrasty - it's prettier and more well-blended than that.

And Exhibit 2 - almost want to leave this yarn just as it is - in a bowl on the table! ; )

but it will be a very nice scarf in a loose gauge - will go up to size 10 needles (bamboo for a little friction - this one is so fluffy!)

Enjoy your evenings!

Another day, another skein!

First, here is the merino scarf from last night's knitting time.

And then the next selection - lavender, light gray, and pale blue alpaca for a shawl. Started this afternoon, but it will take a few days to finish this one.

Approach your problem from the right end and begin with the answers. Then one day, perhaps you will find the final question..

Haha - great tunes!

But you know I am more of a rustic inn and tavern kind of girl myself.

In fact heading to mountains soon with My wicked sister. :D

But in meantime feast your eyes on this - created in August with many kinds of yarns and a fairly complex pattern... (it’s much larger but I don’t want to overwhelm
you!

Well we are up north now and here is some fall inspiration for colors, textures, and freedom of spirit in general.

This is New Hampshire - many more trees than human beings! : )

(And we needed to use UTM coordinates to find the lodge. The moose know where to go though.

A small update on the fiber front...

I made a funny little hat to match the white merino scarf.  And there is still enough yarn left over to make a fluffy "pom-pom" for the top.

Also, the lavender and blue alpaca shawl is shaping up slowly but surely.

And I found a book on painting flowers today. : )

The fiber arts blog coming soon (elsewhere) will be called "Fifty Shades of White." A little humor for quilters, knitters, and other women of the threaded needle...

Enjoy your evenings.

Heading out with my sister on a real wilderness adventure soon, but a few things for the forum before I go.

(Granted, more for the women, seen and unseen, than the rest, but whoever enjoy the arts is welcome.)

In this new series:

1) A little blue pillow (will be filled with herbs for pleasant dreams)
2) red flowers - a fragment right now - will add to it later
3) gray and brown pinwheels - can you see the pattern? It's spinning!

(part 1 of 2 parts)

And threads imported from other threads

An Ode to Cantor

Behold the Continental philosophers,
spinning their soliloquies
sunrise to sunset, quotidienne to
the full extent of their preciousities.

Comes one Georg Cantor
with a neatly boxed apparatus.
"DEFINE yourselves," he says
"through my Infinite and well-ordered sets!"

Creating Confusion, Fear, Curiosity,
and then HOPE...

Infinity of Infinities!

And so life goes on.
Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset...
Sun Sets.

So here is a funny little story about colors and quasi randomness and connection.

Off and on this year, I have been visiting yarn and fabric stores and buying a few things here and there.

Last summer, I was in Newport, Rhode Island and came across these Australian yarns in a little shop near the Team One (big sailing gear) store.

Stunning color blend and contrasting textures, so I bought them.  But I didn't think too much about them - just eye pleasing and easy to add to my collection.

The story continues...

Then a few weeks ago, I starting making a shawl with them - my own design - simple basketweave alternating the skeins every 8 rows or so.

Shaping up nicely!

And then...

We are chatting here a few nights ago about travels and natural phenomena and I wound up posting this picture from Iceland.

I'm not reading anything crazy into it - but that is pretty cool.

I am knitting an Aurora Borealis over a frozen waterfall (and I didn't even know it!). : )

It's going to get really busy here before the holidays - so enjoy the season - and if you like strange and colorful yarn, go get a few skeins of it!

The year-end is coming fast, so two last things before I go.

A very good Persian cookbook - this culinary culture has it all - hot, cool, sweet, sour, and so many exotic spices.
I can get some things locally and have a few on order.

And second - another scarf in very soft merino - the colors are deeper and richer than this picture can capture, but it gives the idea.

Enjoy your weekends - here I will just try to stay warm outside (and try to be cool in the hot kitchen later on! : ))
