My German friends in Black Forest were just crazy about this. They take their humour very seriously. Everyone had to be present, ready for the show to begin. It never caught on in Netherlands.It is quite funny.It was shown everywhere except UK. I remember the Germans falling for it.

The strangest thing is how there is a long introduction at the start in German explaining what the film is about. Is that a common thing in Europe, that you need to be told in advance that something is funny and perhaps when you are supposed to laugh?
Maybe the slapstick caricatures that they like? @bearish?
My mum always said that audiences applaud a singer when she/he sings a song they know. Creatures of habit.
