I just responded to your comment here (I haven't read your book past the first page).
That pretty accurately reflects the extent of my knowledge of how to write books. I know you are supposed to get a reaction from the reader in the first page. After that it is like blah blah blah.

My collection of racist books is growing rapidly! And I'm not doing anything!

As a matter of principle, I buy Italian, German and English editions of my racist books so that nothing gets lost in translation. You can never be too careful with revisionist historians.

PT Travers was forever updating the Mary Poppins books, if you want the full set in multiple languages it’s going to get expensive.

And don’t forget Spanish. Those Latinos are pretty, ahem, forthright in their views.

Hmm. Tor Åge Bringsværd. I remember him from the old days when he wrote science fiction with Jon Bing. I did not know he was still around, let alone still writing.

I admit to judging the book by the cover when I bought it, but maybe it wasn't a coincidence. I really enjoy it, in particular the author's tolerant cynicism towards life, other people and a bit himself.
