Is that the beach at Nantucket?
One of my favorite places in the world.

But there's still no man with a bucket anywhere nearby - hehe.  That's fine though - I can build sand castles by myself for awhile longer. : )

Here is a nice map of the island:

The hydrangeas are lovely this time of year.

I'd love to go for a little vacation this month - but I am watching local advisories and also the preferences of the year-round population for that location (and others like Newport as well).

When they decide that they want visitors and have balanced the needs of the economy with the risks of the virus as they see fit, then I will happily take the ferry...

Never made it to Nantucket. The Hamptons is the furthest I got.

I finally finished Moby Dick. I learned a lot of facts about whales that aren’t true.

In Norway in the 70's the most popular weekly magazine was Donald Duck. A recurring character was Moby Duck, a whaler. No wonder I was confused.

Who would you pick as co-CEO if you were starting a new business? Ahab or Queequeg?

Curious if you will read another novel soon, or if the tome that is MD was enough for awhile.

If English - Lady Chat. or The Golden Bowl?

If American - maybe give The Sun Also Rises another chance?  Or, if you are planning your summer Covid parties, find inspiration in Gatsby!

If Irish... he he, well we know the preferences here - and the fun part is you can use a skeleton key - it's like deciphering a very very long convoluted equation.

Scott Fitzgerald was of Irish descent. A great writer.

From a physicist, no doubt.

It took me 45 years to finish! So I'll be avoiding whales for a while. (I once met one when out kayaking.)

I haven't read "The Golden Bowl." But if it's Lady Chat vs X then X has to be "The Go-Between." No contest. LPH with a knockout.

I never knew the old Donald Duck before the 80s. The new version was a complete change when Onkel $krue made his entry. Here cover of my 2000 edition.
BTW I never had a chance to learn Norwegian because hotel staff came from DK  and Sverge for the yuge pay.

John Irving for the eastcoaster. For unknown reasons I was enchanted by his books when I was an early teenager and they build my vision of America and Europe in American's eyes. The World according to Garp is probably the most famous one, but Hotel New Hampshire was my favourite (I read them all).

I read many, fairly obsessively. And then I just stopped, I don’t know why.

Maybe you grew up. Happens to some men after 50.

Then I must have grown up around 40 which I'm pretty sure was not the case!

You're trying to craft a limerick?
Prose or poetry?
"There was a young fellah named Rollocks
Who worked for Ferrier Pollocks.
As he walked on the Strand
With his girl by the hand
The tide came up to his knees.
Now that’s prose. If the tide had been in, it would have been poetry."
