Is anyone familiar with the free iPod offer? According to both Wired and CNN, among others, it is legit. Sidenote: Offer is only available to those with a U.S. mailing address.

I have second-degree confirmation that people have gotten their iPods. I also hear a lot of people complain about failure to credit for offers, extremely slow shipping. My impression is that if you manage to jump through the hoops in the precisely correct fashion, you will eventually receive an iPod. However, there are many non-obvious ways to mess up the hoop jumping that disqualify you.

Your friends will hate you. Just buy an iPod and save yourself some grief.

Yes, SPAM. You can convince your friends to set up an alternative account just so you can spam them?! Oooookay.

A colleague of mine received his today so, for those who're interested, it's definitely legit.

Isn't this kind of thing illegal? IE you refer 5 friends, they each refer five friends, ... Sounds a lot like pyramid scheme doesn't it?

Apparently this guy crunched some numbers and came up with a decent analysis on how it works on how the company behind it actually makes money...
