https://www.thelocal.no/20191014/oslo-wants-you-to-save-water-by-peeing-in-the-shower

“We could, for example, pee in the shower,” Hult said to NRK. (official responsible for water in the capital Oslo in interview with main Norwegian government sponsored news channel)

"“(It sounds like a strange suggestion) but it's a fine idea. We can also brush our teeth in the shower. It’s also good for the environment, because municipalities use a lot of electricity cleaning water,” he said."

I've heard that Norwegians pee outdoors, in the woods.

off course that is why I am so shocked, he recommend in the shower, it uses much more electricity than in the woods! If just all did it in the woods then we could consider fly once every third year without Flygskam! These people following government recommendations are bringing us to the tipping point!

Sweden brought us Flygskam!

Norway brought Golden showers to the people, no longer only for the elite !

I hope it was sarcasm.

Ahmad ibn Fadlan about Vikings: "They are the filthiest of all Allah’s creatures: they do not purify themselves after excreting or urinating or wash themselves when in a state of ritual impurity after coitus and do not even wash their hands after food." "do not even wash their hands after food."

correct, the standard here is  to wash hands before the food, after the food we wash the knives! (in Oslo possibly in the shower?, what would i know, a simple country boy)

Rus people! Not Russians! (Russija/Russia is a much younger, Moscovite country). Rus arrived to the south from Scandinavia invited by the local tribes who plunged into wars and needed a independent ruler. Rus were supposedly a Varangian tribe, who were previously exiled to the north for enforcing tributes from the very southerners who invited them back. The whole story is hard to reconstruct and all interpretations don't hold completely (my great-great-great grandfather, who was an ethnographer, linguist and an amateur ethnographer analysed it from different perspectives).
They were coming all the way down to the Black Sea. People were intrigued by them.

I recommend Sweney's sweet lemony wax  soap. Smells real nice. I'll send you a bar for Christmas.

Literary snob contest! Yay!

I'd recommend saving water as per the government instructions and getting one of these (bear/Viking scratcher), or even better a crazy Viking chica to scrab the dirt of your back with her nails.

It's the only book I know where they sell soap.
It's Ulysses, which I read when I was 16 ..found it to be very easy to  read. People overthink.

Let us not turn this into a Soap Opera, this is serious stuff!

and yes very happy to see Cuch to focus on soap bars rather than liquid soap. No need for the container!!

In Bolesław Prus "The Doll" a lot of action revolves around a soap show of an old Jew.
"Bolesław Prus wrote The Doll with such close attention to the physical detail of Warsaw that it was possible, in the Interbellum, to precisely locate the very buildings where, fictively, Wokulski had lived and his store had been located on Krakowskie Przedmieście.[1] Prus thus did for Warsaw's sense of place in The Doll in 1889 what James Joyce was famously to do for his own capital city, Dublin, in the novel Ulysses a third of a century later, in 1922. " (from Wikipedia)

A full spectrum of sexism and a crude linguistic style of a local journalist made Prus one of the most celebrated Polish writers (some even compared him to Joyce).
