Transparent Solar Panels Will Turn Windows Into Green Energy Collectors
Nice stuff, but it would probably be more practical to clean ventilation ducts, fix air conditioning, clean windows, switch off some lights and computers, ... in the "energy vampires" most commercial  buildings are.

Apropos the thread title (which has changed lately, I believe), Why the Guardian is changing the language it uses about the environment: "From now, house style guide recommends terms such as ‘climate crisis’ and ‘global heating’"

Political institutions have been losing their credibility for quite some time. We are heading to oblivion, but I think the way leads though anarchy. At lest according The Atlantic's Robert Kaplan's article from 1994, which describes the effect of climate change on social order---at first considered controversial, but the future proved him right. The anarchy may change the course of things and save us.
Anyway, I guess it's a perfect time to not to worry and be happy.

People say that Extinction Rebellion ought to be protesting in China. I think the Middle East would be better. That’s where lots of oil comes from first of all, but more importantly they’ll experience what it is like to live in medieval times, which seems to be their goal for everyone. .

The trade-off seems to be medieval times for a relatively long time or modern times for a few decades. Of course, those of us with only a few decades left to live anyway, may be biased... But, then again, there is always the promise of technological progress. Which better happen in a hurry!
