Of the freshmen students admitted to Harvard this year, 50.8 percent are from minority groups, including African-Americans, Hispanics, Asian-Americans, Native Americans, and Native Hawaiians. That’s up from 47.3 percent last year, according to the university.

Spanish aren't white!!!???

the definition of hispanic in the US varies a little from place to place, but usually it means something like "persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican, Central or South American  origin"
european settlement in places like mexico was very different to the US, and mexicans tend to be mutts. The british settlers killed the injuns or put them on reservations. The spanish settlers interbred with the injuns (or  aztecs/incas/mayans)
As an example, the lovely eva longoria is an hispanic actress who was in Desperate Housewives. She took a DNA test, and found she is
  • 70 percent European
  • 27 percent Native American
  • 3 percent African
and commented thusly
“I thought the percentages would be flipped. I mean, the Spanish conquistadors were the minority when they conquered and eventually overtook the society of Aztecs and Mayans. I guess I thought I would be a little more native, because, like I said, I feel closer to Mexico. But this makes sense.”

For whatever reason, hispanics tend to underperform on standardized tests and are often given a helping hand in getting into schools like harvard

Harvard Blew $1 Billion in Bet on Tomatoes, Sugar, and Eucalyptus
Harvard made many mistakes over the last decade, according to Thomas Gilbert, a finance professor at the University of Washington, but almost all of them boiled down to a single miscalculation: the belief that its top money managers—who were paid $242 million from 2010 through 2014—were smarter than everyone else and could handle the risks almost all other endowments avoided. “They became loose cannons,” Gilbert says. “When you’re managing donor money, it’s appalling.”

Can we perhaps infer that the stock of the Puritans has died?
