Re: Impending Ice Age - What We Can Do (Mitigation)

February 9th, 2018, 6:07 pm

when we first started this thread, it was mostly russian scientists predicting an ice age
this study is from UCSD
Scientists warn of unusually cold Sun: Will we face another ice age?
Funny. Unlike what the clickbait producing “journalist” wrote, the referenced article is a study of radiation from 33 stars with some properties in common with the sun. At least if the abstract is to be believed...

they looked at those other stars to estimate how much the radiation from our own star would diminish during a grand minimum, their estimate being an additional seven percent beyond the lowest point of the 11-year solar cycle.
But since you clearly googled the title "Ultraviolet Flux Decrease Under a Grand Minimum from IUE Short-wavelength Observation of Solar Analogs," you already knew that

where people were forced to migrate from the US to Mexico because of the freezing weather
That wall is endangering the life of millions of US citizens.

that bit about "forced to migrate" is the movie, the day after tomorrow?
think of all the mexican/guatemalan/honduran/dominican/etc lives the president is saving by sending them home. Mind you, despite the rhetoric you hear from those who hate president trump, President Trump is deporting fewer people than Barack Obama did

I would wear shorts to work tomorrow if our dress code allowed it. This is of course a matter of weather, not climate, but doesn't feel entirely normal. The authority of Breitbart citing one recreational climate denier doesn't quite balance the world scientific consensus.

My point was that random internet articles can indeed "prove" anything and everything.

Will Erie, Pennsylvania, Reach 200 Inches of Snow, Surpassing the All-Time Snowiest Winter in Buffalo, New York?

for those who don't know, Erie, PA is on lake Erie and lies between Buffalo and Cleveland

200 inches is 16'6"
That's a lot of snow

National Weather Service Head Denies Assaulting Employee Over Global Cooling Remarks...
it seems that the head of the NWS is a global cooling denier
“I was giving a talk to fellow NWS staff about the jet stream flow in the upper atmosphere. What it showed was large amplitude waves in both the northern and southern hemispheres,” the meteorologist told CFACT.
“I explained that the only way the jet stream could get to be high amplitude is if the atmosphere was actually cooling,” the meteorologist said.
“Right at the bathroom break, the Director of NWS, Louis Uccellini, put a hand on my chest and pushed me up against the wall and said ‘Don’t ever mention the word cooling again,'” the meteorologist said. “He did not mean it in a ‘joking’ way, he absolutely violated my personal space and was dead serious. This was back in 2014.”

" Impending Ice Age - What We Can Do (Mitigation)"

move to Pakistan?

"Temperatures reported to have cracked 50.2 degrees Celsius (122.3 degrees Fahrenheit) on Monday in Nawabshah, located about 127 miles northeast of Karachi. If confirmed, that could make the measurement not just the hottest ever recorded for April in Pakistan, but the hottest ever reliably recorded for April anywhere on Earth."

Well, sure, April, but ignoring the month, nobody beats Death Valley
Death Valley's Furnace Creek holds the record for the highest reliably recorded air temperature On Earth at 134 °F (56.7 °C) on July 10, 1913, as well as the highest recorded natural ground surface temperature on Earth at 201 °F (93.9 °C) on July 15, 1917. (wiki)
p.s. oops! According to here, Death Valley was beat by Azizia, Libya

p.p.s. But wait -- according to here, the Azizia record was declared invalid!
