That’s pajamas for you. About the same intelligence level as Trump.

This is really ridiculous. Tell them how to do it in Norge and Sverge.

Of course, the reason "global warming" became "climate change" is that the global warmists want to own every weather event that makes the nightly news. Brainteaser: without googling, guess any argument that has already been promulgated for this polar vortex weather event to be caused (or exaggerated by) global warming.

I wonder if one can major in "climate change apologetics"  :D

-38 Celsius would be considered as mild in Siberia.

shifting of the gulf stream springs to mind.

It is just a shift of where is cold, is it not?  i.e. Chicago is the temp of the seasonal normal arctic temp and vice versa?

Sure, why not? Actually, the rationale that caught my attention was "meandering":

Because of rapid Arctic warming, the north/south temperature difference has diminished. This reduces pressure differences between the Arctic and mid-latitudes, weakening jet stream winds. And just as slow-moving rivers typically take a winding route, a slower-flowing jet stream tends to meander.

So, where was the meandering last year, touted as one of the warmest winters in the U.S? Anyway, my point was that whatever the weather event, you can cook up apologetics linking it to an arbitrary climate scenario/prediction. Suppose global warming prevents a new mini ice age due to the Maunder Minimum. That's a good thing! But, how will we know?  :D

incredibly, this was on the BBC website today,
America colonisation ‘cooled Earth's climate’

as you suggest, conventional wisdom is that the maunder minimum caused the little ice age
According to the BBC, as whitey killed the injuns, the forests regrew over the injuns' agricultural land and sucked CO2 out of the atmosphere, and that according to the BBC caused the little ice age. They don't even mention sunspots in their article

“incredibly” indeed. Some leading researchers in the Geography department at UCL, a couple of whom regularly publish in Nature and Science, publish an interesting paper and the BBC talks about it. But, oh they’re scientist, so they are obviously biased and don’t know what they talk about. We should listen to Trump instead, and random people on the Internet.

"incredibly" because Alan just posted something about the Maunder minimum and the little ice age
