It's all about that carry on @1.30.

No wonder we had smoky chimneys..
Smoked chicken is delicious!
So how did you clean it? With a brush tied to a rope?

Aha!

btw, wouldn't it be cheaper (investment + npv of future labour cost of cleaning - fun of working with your hands) to buy a little cap to put on top of the chimney instead of these tools?

Also a lower chance of cancer of the scrotum (which was high among London chimney sweeps).

That's a strange correlation! I've heard about snails infected with brain controlling parasites that crawl up to the top of trees so that they get eaten by birds, .. but never about people with scrotum cancer genes having a tendency to go and sweep chimneys. Why is that?

It is!

I'd think the two would be anti-correlated because anyone who is willing to climb on a roof and go down a chimney must have balls!

carcinogenic substances in soot
Chimney sweeps' carcinoma
The disease was principally a British phenomenon; in Germany, for example, sweeps wore tight-fitting protective clothing which prevented the soot from accumulating on the lower surface of the scrotum, whereas boys in the UK were once sent up the chimneys wearing only trousers and shirt, and occasionally naked. In the United Kingdom before the flexible brush was introduced, the master sweeps took apprentices, who were boys from the workhouse or bought them from their parents and trained them to climb chimneys. In the German States, master sweeps belonged to trade guilds and did not use climbing boys
