Is it a rule that if you have all of your teeth replaced, one of them has to be gold?

Seems like it should be.

Sycamores are ugly trees.
They grow everywhere.

No way is it a 300 year old tree.

Being a townie who then moved to the country I was initially uncomfortable with killing things. Being a touch sentimental. But after a while I got used to killing vermin, and amateur taxidermy (so far only pheasants). Ripping out plants, fine. I still have a bit of a problem with old trees, but watching them fall down all the time, I think I'll be over that soon too.

The boy will turn out to have some mental development issue.

Although not hugely recognised as a high-quality firewood, it is a burnable wood with an output higher than most softwoods.
That sycamore is a borderline case.

We drove past the Gap at least 30 times (near Once Brewed) but never had time to pay a visit, unfortunately.
Anyways, Gretna is more romantic.

Yesterday it was 200. This morning 300. Now it’s less than 170.

The first estimate (300 years) was from the Guardian.
It would now be easy to estimate its age ... its rings.

Of course, trees grow more slowly in windswept areas, like Manx.

When sycamores get very old and big -- maybe at 300 years or so -- some of them hollow out. Then they're pretty interesting.

There was one in a sheep pasture in Wales I saw that a small saloon could have been set up in.

Sadly, there was no saloon when I was there, but I imagine it provided the sheep good shelter whenever it rained hard.

One more thing - and not everyone knows this - the roots can undermine the adjacent structures. The Romans ...
We once had a blocked sewage pipe ... a tree's roots nestled in the pipe over a period of several years. At one stage some visiting guests experienced waterhammer effects when flushing..

You'd think the example of Palestine circa 1917-1948 -- in which the UK was intimately involved -- would provide sufficient warning of what can happen when the locals don't set limits on immigration.
