I first read about tulipmania years ago in a fiction story by a popular Polish author. Already at the time I found many research articles suggesting that it was a myth or at best a satire on the, nomen omen, blossoming society. Anyway, good for the Dutch - when Germans tried to starve them to death in 1944, some survived eating tulip bulbs.

Sounds like revisionism and a bit irrelevant. A non-sequitor. As I said, read Dash, not novellas.

What is not myth is the 120,00 Dutch Jews who were sent to the gas chamber by the Dutch collaborators.

Aaron has written on the tulip bulb mania. I’d trust his research over most other people’s for something like this. Probably in Red Blooded Risk, but I could be wrong on that

Aaron may have a narrow albeit accurate viewpoint (which I kind of doubt given the fact that so little data is available) but he certainly does not have the last word. The reason was that tulips became junk bond status in the final days of the mania, according to Mike Dash.

It was a socio-economic phenomenon and not an economic crisis. I think it should be viewed in that light.
Same old story ... Madness of Crowds ... e.g. buying sheds of toilet roll.

From your link, as part of the answer to “who should read this book?”:

Those who are convinced that they know exactly what happened in tulipmania (read the fascinating chapter “Exponentials, Vampires, Zombies, and Tulips”).

LOL
If you know exactly, what's the point in reading/buying the book?

Your non-sequitur threshold is pretty low for a James Joyce fan. I like to give some background and context to my thesis.
Tulips are one of the most popular flowers in Southern and Eastern Europe, with long tradition of cultivation and symbolism (but not necessarily culinary). Western hype-seeking pseudoscientists like McKay wouldn't even know in what direction to read the historial sources. Don't worry, though, one day some Western names will become famous for translating the Eastern classics.

Trump and his envoys have trashed Europe's confidence in the US. The damage might be irreparable

https://amp-cnn-com.cdn.ampproject.org/ ... index.html

Earlier this week, it emerged that Pete Hoekstra, the US ambassador to the Netherlands, hosted an event at his embassy for Forum for Democracy (FvD), a far-right, anti-immigration and anti-EU party that is gaining popularity in the country. Dutch magazine De Groene Amsterdammer, which first reported on the event, described it as a fundraiser for the party.

Like others, FVD wants to go back to the 50s but they differ on which century it should. Some suggest the 50s of Holland's Glorious Century and Dutch East Indies Company. Now where did we hear that before?

I’m sure I posted something around here about Trump’s MAGA desire to return the US to the 50’s. Specifically, the gender relations of the 1950’s, the race relations of the 1850’s, and the economics of the 1750’s.

Holland was 1650. In 1672 it all caved in.

In your case, bearish, it was 850 AD
The Danish Vikings came to Ireland from about 849 AD and fought the Norse Vikings.
