Well, taken in copious quantities it has been known to facilitate various social interactions, so I wouldn't entirely rule it out.

Van Gogh painting stolen from Dutch museum

"The thieves took Van Gogh’s Parsonage Garden at Neunen in Spring after smashing through the front glass door of the Singer Laren museum, in Laren, at around 3.15am on Sunday morning. No other art is believed to be missing."

"The burglar alarm had been triggered by the break-in but the thieves had fled by the time police officers arrived."

"During a press conference broadcast on Youtube, the museum’s director, Jan Rudolph de Lorm, said he was “incredibly pissed off” by the loss of the painting, which had been on loan from the Groninger Museum."

"museum’s security measures had gone “entirely according to protocol”."

According to the museum website created no later than 14 March, "Singer Laren will be closed until 31 March due to the coronavirus outbreak."

The painting was stolen on 30 March. Why planing for the last moment?

Vincent van Gogh
Born: 30 March 1853, Zundert, Netherlands

Suspicious...

If I could, I would steal the marble version of Rodin's Eternal Idol

What art piece would you steal?

1) Will look great installed next to the bidet.
2) Useful, if I have spring house parties and/or male guests in... 2021?

Jacek Malczewski’s The Piano Lesson looted during WWII finally returns to Warsaw
Image

"A painting by one of the greatest and most acclaimed artists in the history of Polish art which disappeared from the National Museum in Warsaw after the fall of the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 has finally returned home."

"The Piano Lesson" isn't very characteristic of his (symbolist) style. He spent a lot of time in Ukraine, vacationing in the countryside, looking for inspirations in the local folklore and metaphysics, and dreaming about the reborn Poland... I personally value other Polish symbolists more, but he won on patriotism. His painting must have looked so grotesque hanging on the wall in some German thief's house :-)
