I'm a big Dire Straits fan. I harbor strongly associative memories based on sentiments like "let's play the music a little louder to drown out those other noises we may make". I also saw them live on their last tour in 1992. February 17th, as it turns out. Snowy is OK, but not in the same league.

Same here about Dire Straights - about being a fan: of Knopfler's guitar in particular (it sets the bar high for the rest of the band).

I like his late 70's stuff. Paradise by the Dashboard Light is a definite classic.
