Yes, the impact of such "personalities" goes far beyond the Forum itself sometimes - even my sister knows who ppauper is and what he gets up to around here. :D

spring has sprung for the roughly 88% of the world's population who live in the northern hemisphere

It's a lot less than 88% because only a fraction of Northern hemisphere is in the temperate zone and has the traditional 4-season climate.   In India, for example, the Rabi season (Arabic for spring) happens October to March so spring is over for them.
