Is it a joke or is it really true ? So I also believe that GS is responsible for the global warming, the tornados in Mississipi, the disappearing of the white bears in Canada, etc ...

But Goldman Sachs, people would be jumping in front of news cameras to claim credit for stepping on their head. Any creditors waiting for someone to step in better bring a sleeping bag to the office. And maybe a winter coat, it could be a while...

A source tells me Goldman is negotiating a settlement with the SEC. Goldman is not interested in a court trial where CNBC, CNN and Bloomberg will be reporting on their every move in the courtroom. The SEC is alleging that Goldman's marketing practices cross legal boundaries, so while a trial is no guarantee of victory for the SEC, it just doesn't look good for Goldman. So, a settlement in the 8-figure is a given. There is also talk of "resignation" or "separation" of certain individuals from Goldman, but this is still fluid at best.
