-- approximately the square root of one percent of the population --
???

What are the units of a square root of part of a human population -- ?

This seems to be little more than a call to radicalism.

Last I checked the square root of one percent was (plus/minus) ten percent. So if we go with the positive solution, that sounds pretty well defined. But not all that small.

I knew a Transcendental Meditator mathematician (yes, plenty of puns there), got a third-class degree.

But taking this as intended, square root number of people then take 1%, it must have something to do with the perimeter of the population(?)

A lot of Brits have taken to the streets today. The vast majority seem to be very happy!

Yes, the source of that verbage probably followed the famous "SRISR" ("square root is smaller, right?") logical fallacy, but that's not the end of it.

I got through all of my physics courses without learning anything except that all you needed to do to solve a physics problem was to understand what units the answer would be in, and then combine your given information so that those units are produced. So, very simply, if you're given a speed (distance divided by time) and an amount of time (um ... time), and the answer is to be a distance, you just multiply the speed figure by the time figure to get the answer.

No one ever figured out to throw in some extraneous information ("... and another train is traveling at 40 kilometers per hour ..."), so I was all good.

But from the original quote, we are looking for the square root of one percent of the population. Huh.

If the population is 100 people, then one percent of that is one person. So the scalar (if I'm using that word right; it doesn't come up much in everyday speech) is ten percent, as you note. Plus/minus.

But what are the units?

A square root is the quantity that when it is multiplied by itself gives us the original figure. In human terms, we might consider that a given person is the product of his or her mother and father. But the mother and father are not the same, so no square root there.

But given hermaphroditic people, conceivably (literally) someone could impregnate himself. Herself. I guess the preferred pronouns would make it "he impregnated herself."

So that parent (no "s") could be said to be the square root of his child. Her child. His/her child.

And I guess the one thing that can be inferred from this is that Transcendental Meditation makes you hermaphroditic ... just like Ron DeSantis warned us, I'm sure we'd find if we looked hard enough.

A) It’s a bit of fun. Usually you only get to swear loyalty four or five times in life, when you get married.

B) It’s not legally binding.

I swore allegiance (TCD) to QEI when I first entered TCD. In Latin.

And our Ulster brothers have no problems in this regard. Half of our family kind of loyalists.

That's nobody's business but their own. Why they changed it I can't say. People just liked it better that way
