Mere coincidence that I picked the Executive Editor of the Economist and hotbed of Oxford philosophy [and no I'm not shilling the guy's book everyone!] but this is a nice way of "cheating" in this course if you don't want to invest the time to read the recommended texts.
In other words, I learn most of what I know this way.
Incidentally, his 1 volume book on The Dream of Reason -- Greek thought to the Renaissance some of you may wish to check out instead of Bertrand Russell's history text...
