So, we have a spat between a totalitarian regime with a horrendous track record on human rights and the government of Justin Trudeau. I trust you are squarely on the side of the Saudis here.

I'm not going to join bearish, as I don't have a dog in that fight. I was going to say that bearish was on his own, but it seems that  he is in good company
The day after Saudi Arabia downgraded ties, Yemen's Hadi government, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and the Palestinian Authority all announced their support of Saudi Arabia's response to what they considered "interference" in the Kingdom's internal affairs by Canada. The Arab Interior Ministers Council and the secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani also sided with Saudi Arabia. However, Qatar, a GCC member, distanced itself from the remarks made by Al Zayani and stated that his comments "do not reflect its opinion" while mentioning that it maintains cordial relations with Canada

I would hope that even bearish would draw the line at flying planes into toronto skyscrapers, which is what the tweet seemed to suggest

You are showing some signs of dementia here, but there is some precedence for Saudis flying planes into tall buildings.

Canada asks for help in Saudi dispute
Germany and Sweden previously were targets of Saudi backlashes for calling out the kingdom over human rights abuses.
Freeland sought to understand how they resolved those disputes, and asked for their support, the official said. Ottawa also planned to reach out to regional heavyweight the United Arab Emirates and Britain, which has strong historical ties to Saudi Arabia.

looks like they're looking for a way to back down without losing face

evidently what's a stake for Canada is a $14.9B deal to sell light armored vehicles to the Saudis, which is huge for the Canadian economy. If the Saudis cancel it, it would be a big deal
By the numbers: Canada's aid to Yemen vs. Saudi arms deal
the deal was negotiated by the previous Canadian government

I'm curious about this flight

Emirates Flight Held At JFK Airport After Several Reported Sick On Board

Eric Phillips, spokesman for Mayor Bill de Blasio, posted that the plane had made a stop in Mecca and passengers may have been exposed to a flu epidemic underway in the city.

we've all seen the roadsigns

mecca is for mohammedans only, no infidels allowed
So is this flight for mohammedans only?

Tensions between Turkey and Saudi Arabia grow after alleged murder of journalist in embassy
saudi journalist in turkey
it's alleged that he went to the Saudi embassy to pick up documents (he was getting married) and was "killed and cut up" by a 15 man hit team, although why it took 15 of them to do it

The mind boggles as to why.
