Not a vegan, but this article from my local paper was notable:

As pigs await slaughter at Farmer John, strangers offer water, love and comfort to the doomed

I wonder if they got the idea from a scene in Schindler's List -- not that there's anything wrong with that. Kind of touching, IMO.

They are strong and courageous young people (many of them end up arrested just for doing that, or get hurt by the lories).
Some survivors of Shoah compare their own experience to modern animal farming. It's the scale of cruelty and callousness, of which all people (not just Germans) are capable, that terrifies. IMHO, it's a natural instinct to oppose it.
