another fake apology
The boss of Qatar Airways has issued "heartfelt apologies for any offence caused" for saying that a woman could not do his job.
Akbar al-Baker said on Tuesday that the airline had to be led by a man "because it is a very challenging position".
(snip)
His comment reportedly prompted groans and boos at the conference, and as the controversy spread, the chief executive issued a statement.
"I would like to offer my heartfelt apologies for any offence caused by my comment yesterday, which runs counter to my track record of expanding the role of women in leadership throughout the Qatar Airways Group and has been sensationalised by the media.
So he's not sorry for what he said but he's sorry you're upset.
And since he has neither apologized for what he said nor retracted it, his comments stand.

qatari hackers
Elliott Broidy, whom bloomberg describe as "once-obscure Republican fundraiser," but who is described elsewhere as "former Republican National Committee finance chairman" was allegedly hacked by the government of qatar.
The same qatar which gave the clinton foundation $1M for bill clinton's birthday while hillary was secretary of state.
You'd think the FBI would be all over that, but seemingly not.
Broidy tried to sue but "the judge threw the case out, ruling that the court lacked jurisdiction"

World Cup host Qatar to introduce 100 percent booze tax
The policy was revealed by the Qatar Distribution Company, the country's only alcohol store, in a 30-page list of new prices for beer, wines and spirits, citing the introduction of a 100 per cent "excise tax".
(snip)
A 24-pack of Heineken 330ml beers will now cost 384 riyals ($105, 92 euros).
It is legal to buy alcohol in Qatar with a permit, and also to drink in licenced bars, clubs and hotels -- although drinking in public is banned.
