Colombia is probably as rich as Venezuela. They have immense resources. It is a real paradise, their people are among the happiest on earth. Their cultural diversity is as vast as Brazil's. You are forgetting Esmeralds mines, and they have lot of gold, it is a green country, it is most than a jardin if you compare with Chile, Colombia has not desertic areas. I will post soon some music from Colombia that is just the mirrow of the sould of Colombia. Colombia is almost an eden.A friend of mine moved to work there few moths ago, he told me that activities start at 6:30 AM in BogotaPlaces to see and visit: Bogota, Cali, Medellin, Santander, Buracamanga, Santa Martha, Cartagena, etc. The negative side is guerrilla wich affects not only to Colombia itself but to the neighborg countries. I remember a short story long time ago published in a news paper; italian mafia wanted to "team up" with colombian drug lords, and they laughed on them ... and they refused to any alliance. They underestimated italians ... make your own conclussions

I know very little about Colombia, but I read 2 books of Juan Garbriel Vasquez and liked them very much (even if in German translations some deep spirits are probably not coming through).(and GG Marquez for sure)
