It's a kind of boycott, which is effective.

Cute. They weren't Irish oxen.

Funny, but I was in Soweto and Stanton, Jo'burg 16 June 2006, the 30th anniversary of the murder of Hector Pieterson in 1976 and the start of the Soweto riots.

Boycott against Apartheid started in Dublin by working class women in 1984. Of course, the middle class liberals came on board when it became trendy to be anti-Apartheid.

INFOBAE (Argentina)

... But the enormous size of the Chinese fleet and its recent arrival to the American continent has raised fears that it may deplete marine resources ... 16 ships sailed with their security transponders turned off, transmitted multiple electronic identifications or sent information that did not match its registered name or location ... In the last decade, the number of Chinese flag vessels in the South Pacific has increased almost 10 times, ... Meanwhile, the size of their catch has increased from 70,000 tonnes in 2009 to 358,000 .... Fishing takes place almost exclusively at night, when each boat turns on hundreds of lights as powerful as a stadium to attract herds of the swift squid. The concentration of lights is so powerful that it can be seen from space in satellite images that show the huge fleet that shines as brightly as large cities hundreds of miles away on land ...

... The looters' paradise is located between the maritime border of Argentina and the Falkland Islands, in a no man's land where fishing licenses, catch limits and supervision are non-existent. ... It is impossible to know what the ships did while in "dark" mode. However, ships sometimes turn off their transponders to avoid detection while conducting illicit activities. Over the years, Argentine authorities have observed numerous “dark” Chinese vessels fishing illegally in their waters ... The Chinese fleet is sometimes able to fish for years at a time because it can unload its catch at sea in a network of reefers (giant refrigerated tankers) capable of transporting more than 15,000 cubic meters of fish to the port — enough to fill six Olympic swimming pools. Giant oil tankers provide cheap fuel heavily subsidized by the Chinese government, increasing the environmental burden ....

What's needed is a fleet of nuclear-powered submarines blocking the route. And not those old-fashioned diesel-powered ones that you can hear for miles because they sound like a London taxi. ;)

Of course, you can’t really block them, so the game would be to sink them. An honestly, even old Peugeot “le subs” could comfortably do that from a distance.

I like it. Even better just play the sound of a London cab over a loudspeaker, the French are coming, the French are coming! That would frighten anyone.
