Here is one for exner - I have been listening to various CDs and this is Mozart in all of his perfection!Agnus Dei (Coronation Mass in C-major) - Wolfie MozartAnd how not to love this? Kyrie (Coronation Mass in C-major) - WAMDoes it help if you know that Kathleen Battle is *really*, *really* difficult to work with? Here is another excellent recording of it, along with four other masses:

It's a very long piece and takes a while to warm up as the first movement is a bit slow. But it gets very exciting and dramatic later on, starting with the second movement (about 9:20).

(Mozart?)I thought about Mozart - in response to DevonFangs' post... who, as it turns out, was teasing Exner :-)But how can one dislike Mozart?! Well, I love the opera (endlessly! if you sat me in front of one of my favourites, I wouldn't care if the world was ending or I died) and all guys who contributed to making this art form bigger and better - that includes Haendel, Wagner, Verdi and undoubtedly Mozart. Exner, you know that Mozart wrote for money, to please the client, and everybody wanted a blockbuster with Mozart trademark phrases all over it. But when you listen e.g. to this, keeping in mind it was XVIII century, doesn't it just make you bow down before the genius ahead of his times? Similarly, I don't like sacral music, but I adore one of its most prominent contemporary composers, Arvo Part - he turned to writing it (and now is most known for it) because he couldn't make a living composing in his original style.
