'I have a problem, I'll get a grant.' 'I'm homeless, the government must house me.' They're casting their problem on society. And, you know, there is no such thing as society. There are individual men and women, and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look to themselves first. It's our duty to look after ourselves and then, also to look after our neighbour. People have got the entitlements too much in mind, without the obligations. There's no such thing as entitlement, unless someone has first met an obligation."And this is pretty much what everyone is now saying. She just said it 25 years before the current lot of bandwagon jumpers.PThis quote sounds like it's taken from the mouth of someone from "Democracy in America". Say some anonymous pile of jelly starts to take care of your kids, old, and you friends in trouble. It's no longer paramount for you to take care of your old, kids, and friends in trouble, init it? What's a practical reason to even have friends, apart from getting a bulk discount on beer? A natural incentives to care of having a spouse to raise kids, to give as much care as possible to health and future of your kids because you expect them to take care of you later on , to create a tight association with your friends providing them help and expecting help -- this all disappears. Instead of maintaining links between humans and their mutual obligations which is what society is, this arrangement kills all links and obligations in society, kills society. All is left is the government and relationship with it. Government watches the drone, the drone watches TV -- and repeats what it says.
