I thought I Maggie was more pragmatic than 0.2 (for example she had a large number of "wets" in her cabinet).

Am happy to split the difference on CMD, but keeping Maggie's Pragmatism at 0.2 since she commendably didn't care what people thought about her.Iron Lady (0.9, 0.2)The Grey One (0.6, 0.3)Bliar (0.05, 0.997)The Insane One (0.01, 0.01)Call Me Dave (0.5, 0.5)P

Say some anonymous pile of jelly starts to take care of your kids, old, and you friends in trouble. It's no longer paramount for you to take care of your old, kids, and friends in trouble, init it? What's a practical reason to even have friends, apart from getting a bulk discount on beer? A natural incentives to care of having a spouse to raise kids, to give as much care as possible to health and future of your kids because you expect them to take care of you later on , to create a tight association with your friends providing them help and expecting help -- this all disappears. Instead of maintaining links between humans and their mutual obligations which is what society is, this arrangement kills all links and obligations in society, kills society. All is left is the government and relationship with it. Government watches the drone, the drone watches TV -- and repeats what it says.

QuoteOriginally posted by: Paul@exner You have to see how frightening the opposition was at the time. Michael Foot and Neil Kinnock. I think they saw the UK as a New Albania!PIn many ways I think it is true that the poverty of the Labour leadership contributed greatly to Thatcher's dominance of the political arena. Arthur Scargill was misguided in many ways. For instance he ensured defeat for the miners' strike by not allowing a ballot, thereby allowing Thatcher and her tame media to drive a wedge between his supporters and those miners who felt disenfranchised. However he was also one of the few leaders of the labour movement who saw clearly where Thatcher was taking us and had the courage to stand up to her.

It seems that capital had all the entitlements and the rest of us all the obligations.

Of course, it's no surprise that the Kremlin had an interest in the matter as nuclear-armed cruise missiles were being installed in the UK under US control.
