Measuring Artificial Sweeteners Toxicity

and for long time government Risk committees (for example in Norway) have claimed even children could eat loads of it without any risk....

better to stick to sweet potatoes and banans (un-processed)
indeed
At the moment we have a war against sugar, and food and beverages manufacturers are replacing sugar by all those horrible chemicals
instead of refined suger they should just tell people to eat non refined (bananas etc), not to replace with toxic chemicals...IYI morons with no clue on risk
Yeah, gut bacteria don't handle processed artificial products too well. I buy raw ripe dates (khajur) from the local Pakistani store and blend them (sometimes add water) to make a natural sweetener to be used instead of sugar. Persians have been eating them for 6 thousand years so we all must share some healthy sentiment to this food

Old, but worth re-sharing: An open letter concerning the scientific und erpinnings of the proposed new B eagle facility at Grimston (a.k.a. critical assessment of the efficacy of animal testing)

CDC's handling of polio-like illness criticized by its own advisers
A CDC doctor said the agency was working hard to find the cause of the outbreaks
Since 2014, there have been 396 confirmed cases of acute flaccid myelitis, which resembles polio and causes paralysis in children
I think we all hoped that we'd seen the last of polio, then along come AFM (acute flaccid myelitis) leaving hundreds of kids in wheelchairs (and ventilators in many cases). And the CDC is stumped
Van Haren and other doctors who care for these children say the agency has been slow to gather data and to guide pediatricians and emergency room physicians on how to diagnose and treat the children struck with the disease, acute flaccid myelitis.
"This is the CDC's job. This is what they're supposed to do well. And it's a source of frustration to many of us that they're apparently not doing these things," said Dr. Kenneth Tyler, a professor and chair of the department of neurology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and another adviser to the CDC on AFM.
After FDR, Mitch McConnell (senate majority leader) is maybe the best known polio survivor. He was struck with polio at the age of 2 in 1944 during WW2, and his mother put him in the car and drove him to a treatment center funded by the March of Dimes which saved his life. His mother drove him because I believe his father was in the military because of WW2. People sent in donations a dime at a time and it all added up. A vaccine was developed by Salk in the 1950s.

Polio was devastating, and obviously no one wants something like that to happen again

Half of people who think they have a food allergy do not – study
Participants were asked if they had a food allergy and were questioned about their reactions and diagnoses. The team then assessed whether the reported allergy, whether diagnosed or not, was “convincing” – for example if the participant had experienced symptoms such as throat tightening or vomiting.
“If they only had, say, bloating or stomach pain or diarrhoea then we took them out because that could be a lactose intolerance or a food intolerance,” said Gupta.
What's the difference between an "allergy" and an "intolerance?" Is it just a question of degree? Or is it a distinction without a difference.
If I got diarrhoea/stomach pain/bloating every time I ate a particular food, or just felt like crap, I'd stop eating that food, regardless of whether it was an "allergy" or an "intolerance"

Cocoa contains anandamide, which acts on the CB1 cannabinoid receptors. Since CB1 apparently accumulate in the brain, they are associated with psychoactive effects. Marijuana acts on both CB1 and CB2 - the second are in the whole body and believed to moderate pain and inflammations (some paper about it). Better stick to marijuana. ppauper Topic Author Posts: 70239 Joined: November 15th, 2001, 1:29 pm ### Re: is medicine a science ? ppauper Topic Author Posts: 70239 Joined: November 15th, 2001, 1:29 pm ### Re: is medicine a science ? A company called Vaev is selling pre-used tissues for $80 and in case you were interested in purchasing a box they're already sold out! if anyone's interested, I can blow my nose on a kleenex and mail it (the kleenex) to you for$40. That's half what Vaev are charging
