UN Security Council urges an end to Israel settlement building

http://www.rte.ie/news/2016/1223/840894 ... lestinian/

It states that Israeli settlements have "no legal validity" and are "dangerously imperiling the viability of the two-state solution" that would see an independent Palestine co-exist alongside Israel.

that's compared to the 1st quarter. I'm wondering if there's a construction season in Israel, with construction always higher in the 2nd quarter than the 1st

Such questions do indeed have answers. Based on OECD data from 1995-2011 (Bloomberg ticker OEILW010) on dwelling starts by month, not seasonally adjusted, there were on average 8.5% *fewer* Q2 starts than Q1 starts.

if that's true. then something weird has happened this year, because from cuch's article

>> In the first half of 2018, 1,073 settlement units were built in the settlements, compared with only 870 in the first half of 2017.

Year-on-year construction rose by 23% in the first six months

But you're looking at housing "starts" and cuch's figure might be completions.

The simple explanation would be a guy with a body part shaped like a toadstool.

And the small matter of having delegated the US Middle East policy to a young Orthodox Jew whose only real world experience is in real estate development and sales. What could possibly go wrong with that?

Never mind that, think of the views and the skyline. It's a win-win.
