You want me to feed the cat catnip or something?

Our cat is clearly stuck in a  local maxima with her behaviour. Any ideas?

Every time she wants something she's going to sit on a stool and eye my every move, very annoying. She probably correlates sitting on that stool with getting a nice bit of fish she got the first time she did it, but now she thinks that there is a causal relation.
What if you spritz the top of the stool with water -- cat jumps on stool, discovers it's wet, freaks out, and avoids horrible wet stool from then on.

I do that all the time. The stool is in the kitchen close to the tap, and if she does that then I go and wash something and "accidentally" spill lots it water around. She'll leave but the next day it's exactly the same.
How about slowly moving the stool further and further from where you are working. Or stacking books, boxes, and papers on top of the stool so it's not a pleasant perch.

Or, start giving her a nice piece of fish every time she sits in the far corner of the room.

I've tried all that, put a plant on top the stool etc.

When I google it I get 53 billions hits, it's apparently trying to control me, just as I thought.

Of course, it's trying to control you.

Cats don't have much between the ears, but they have all day and don't mind waiting.

The trick is to ensure that it's attempts to control you make it do something you want the cat to do. So, outwit the kit!

Good idea! I'm going to teach it to crawl under the couch and remove the dust. It's very furry.

Cats are wise. Ask her to stop and she will - if she wants.

I really needed it after the whole evening of breeding little men and even numbers of the Dutch... ;-)

It's definitely the "I wants" look. Now you just need to figure out what it is.

If you hold a mirror up to that cat, the staring rays will bounce back an forth until it forms a laser. Then you can use the beam against the loud neighbor.

Is she more clingy than usual, e.g. trying to climb up your leg? Are there any changes to her behaviour (less playful or cuddly)? I'm asking because when my pets act like that they either want something or try to let me know that they feel bad.

Since a year we have a second cat, male -but "helped"- and that one sometime sits on top and pushes her to the floor for 30 seconds. She can't move and makes weird noises. Maybe she's stressed out because of all that?

Yeah, they often turn proud cut, especially if neutered late. My boy wasn't "helped" (he's not a breeding cat, but I just didn't have the heart to do that to him!), but he doesn't cause any trouble. The vet thinks it's because I spoilt him rotten. He sometimes annoys his sister and she indeed tends to hide from him by my side (she's smaller than he). If you are the one chasing the other cat away from her, she may like to stay close to you and those looks are to express her gratitude and trust. She looks healthy and nice.
