I use my cats as thermometers. I've had heavy flue for the last several days, for the first time in 6 years or so. My body temperature was oscillating between over 39C and 36C, with an envelope converging to my natural 36.7C. The cats came to lie on me during the peaks and returned to the heated floor during the lows.

Lucky that your cat isn't the big furry insulator type or else it would have driven the peaks further up!
Good to hear that you're better now.

Thanks. It wasn't that bad if I think about it. I was so ill that my husband had to do everything for me. Many times I was too weak to cover myself with a duvet and I read a really stupid book by a Polish writer, who used to constantly ban me on his blog for my comments. One of the characters is a vegan girl involved in some disturbing intrigue.

Any chance the arrow of causality was reversed? Perhaps the cats were trying induce a fever?

(Japanese honeybees do this to kill invading hornets by forming a ball of bees around the hornet, revving up their metabolism, heating the hornet to 47°C (116°F), and killing it.)

This is so cool! I have to visit them. I'm visiting an animal (including species I've never seen in my life) shelter in South America in a few days.

Thanks :-) I hope they won't cancel the flights because of the "thunderstorm".
