Professor’s award revoked after slideshow featuring photos of researchers in swimsuits
The recipient of a prestigious award in herpetology had the award rescinded last week on the grounds that photographs of female researchers in his acceptance talk were “inappropriate,” with a spokeswoman of the organization that rescinded the award admitting that there were “no formal complaints” related to the presentation.
Richard Vogt, who took part in the discovery that the sex of turtles is determined by the temperature they experience in the egg, gave his acceptance speech for the Distinguished Herpetologist Award at the Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists last week. Herpetology is the scientific study of reptiles and amphibians.
As part of his talk, Vogt featured pictures of his researchers handling turtles. In some of the photographs, the researchers, many of whom were women, are wearing bathing suits as they worked in boats and on beaches.

Everyone seems to be missing the big story: "the discovery that the sex of turtles is determined by the temperature they experience in the egg"
It is offensive to suggest that sex is "determined" by such things.
Sea turtles have the same rights as the rest of us to decide for themselves their own sex

People don't decide for themselves. Sex is fully determined by 15 (or more) genes, not just SRY (the gene sitting on the Y chromosome, usually responsible for the development of testis). There can be a person with a male/female phenotype who has XX/XY genotype or a person exhibiting a mixture of male and female characteristics. They make such choices to adjust to the artificial norms people like you impose on them. In a normal world, they would live happily as they are.

many of us have been eagerly awaiting the latest LGBTQIA Safe Sex Guide from Healthline

For the purposes of this guide, we’ll refer to the vagina as the “front hole” instead of solely using the medical term “vagina.” This is gender-inclusive language that’s considerate of the fact that some trans people don’t identify with the labels the medical community attaches to their genitals.

This raises junk science to a new level. On one hand, we should be reassured by (quoting from the published article itself): "Statistical analyses of quantitative data were performed using Excel and custom shell scripts (Unix)." Not only is it a survey of a couple of hundred anonymous people found on the internet, they were recruited via three anti-trans web sites. And in the intro to the survey, she further preordains the conclusion by this paragraph: "You are being asked to take part in a research study if you have a child who, when they were between the ages of 10 and 21, developed a sudden or rapid onset of gender dysphoria. This may have occurred in the context of either increased social media/Internet use, and/or belonging to a friend group in which one or multiple friends have developed gender dysphoria and come out as transgender during a similar time frame."
